Old Town Hall

The Old Town Hall was purpose built in 1849, based on a Greek architectural style, by Caleb S. Beede. In present day, it is no longer the location of the town hall; that honour goes to neighbouring buildings. It is in continued use as a polling and meeting location, as well as a venue for performances both theatrical and musical. Initially, Bristol used the local Methodist church as the location for all its meetings. The stage inside was installed in 1872. When originally constructed, the town hall also included an upper balcony area for the purpose of audience viewing, and possibly to prevent crowding the town officials.
