The Whipple House is a colorful dwelling that cannot be missed on the way into Bristol coming from I-93. Originally the house of Henry Chandler Whipple, a prominent Bristol businessman,  it now operates as a Bed & Breakfast offering year-round lodging. Originally built in 1904, the house is one of a few that retains its original New England Queen Anne style of architecture.

Henry Chandler Whipple was involved heavily in the business scene in Bristol,  serving on a board that oversaw The First National Bank in Bristol that was established in 1898. While the bank was successful, having done nearly $2,000,000 in business per year, the bank closed after four short years in 1902. Henry and his family moved into the house in the spring of 1904 after construction was completed. The Whipple family retained ownership until 1961, when it changed owners,  before becoming a bed & breakfast in 1985.

As stated before, the house evinces the New England Queen Anne style of architecture.  It is adorned with a roof cresting on top and a polygonal turret with roof shingles on the left side of the house.
